If you’re reading this you’re probably wondering “what the heck is a timeless wardrobe?” Simply put it’s a wardrobe that you can wear year round devoid of what the current trend is. I’ve detailed Sujuane’s Staples below to get you started. You probably have most of these in your closet already. I’ll show you throughout my platform how to mix and match these “Staples” to create lots of different outfits.
JEANS
First up, jeans. Blue jeans will always be on trend. At times they have a bigger moment in fashion, but they are always around in some way. Light, medium, & dark blue washes are traditionally the norm. Skinny, boot cut, relaxed, etc. are just a few of the styles. Choose the one(s) that represent your style and add them to your wardrobe.
TAILORED SUIT
A well fitting suit is the bees knees, legs, and arms in my opinion. The key words are well fitting. This means it fits like a glove, not too tight and not too loose…perfect. If you want to invest money anywhere I recommend investing here. Timeless colors for suits are: black, navy, and dark/medium gray.
BLACK SLIP DRESS
This is my jam right here! This LBD (little black dress) is an item you’ll be styling with over and over. For the most sophisticated look get the dress in a satin material. I promise this dress will be one you keep reaching for for all sorts of occasions. I recommend a midi or long length, but if you’ve got great legs Sis get that mini.
T-SHIRTS/LIGHTWEIGHT SWEATERS
A solid tee or lightweight sweater can make a simple but impactful statement within an outfit. Stick to muted colors like white, black, gray, tan, etc. Scoop or V necks are both great options depending on your personal preference.
WHITE BUTTONED DOWN
A crisp white buttoned down shirt is a must in every closet. It is one of the most versatile items you can own. It can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.
LEATHER & BLUE JEAN JACKETS
Both of these are timeless items. The Blue Jean Jacket can be seen year round, even in the summer months. Although the leather jacket typically makes it’s appearance mainly during the winter months, it can also be seen throughout the year to give an outfit a more edgy or sophisticated look. Both are a definite must, the leather jacket can be purchased in real or faux leather.
HEELS & FLATS
Depending on your comfort level a nice pair of heels (or flats) are perfect to class up any outfit. I recommend a black pair and a “nude” pair. The nude pair can be a bit tricky because nude traditionally has been based on fairer skin tones. So when I say “nude” I’m referring to a color that’s more flesh toned to your natural skin color. BOOTIES
A bootie or ankle boot is a good item to have in your closet. You can wear these during every season. They are a great option for day or night outfits and can dress up or dress down any outfit. Black or brown are ideal colors to have these in.
WHITE SNEAKERS
Last but certainly not least, clean white sneakers. I love a low top or a high top white Converse sneaker. Either height works, it’s your personal preference. They are the perfect addition to a pair of jeans or even slacks when you’re wanting a more casual look.
